ISHS Authors Guide
Preparing a Paper for publication in Acta Horticulturae

Reading this page means that you are about to prepare an article to be presented at an ISHS Symposium or Meeting. Taking into account the following instructions will facilitate the publication of your paper in Acta Horticulturae afterwards.

Remember that only papers presented at ISHS Symposia are published in Acta Horticulturae after being accepted, reviewed and edited by the editorial board of the Symposium/Meeting involved. This is also why you should submit your contribution directly to the Convener of the Symposium you will attend and NOT to the ISHS Secretariat.

Acta Horticulturae is used for publishing research and review articles. Research reports of an oral or poster presentation should contain a commentary on a finished research project. A review article deals with knowledge obtained about a certain subject. Abstracts or copies of posters are not published.

It is the aim of the International Society for Horticultural Science that all papers published  have a similar lay-out and are printed in the same font: "Times New Roman 12 points".

In order to make page lay-out corrections possible and in view of future electronic publishing, papers should be submitted both as hard copy (printout on paper) AND on computer disk. In the event of differences between the printout and the electronic version, the printout will be used as reference.

We need a hard copy but also we need the data-file on a floppy disk (any commonly-used word-processor format will do but preferably use Microsoft Word files)
