Hot, humid, very little snow, lots of rain
and strong wind are common in tropical and subtropical area such as Taiwan and other
countries. The cultural practice, design and environmental control systems of
greenhouses suitable for these areas should be different from those in other
regions of the world. The
aim of the symposium is to provide the opportunity for researchers and
scientists from all over the world to discuss up to date of their work and to
exchange ideas on all aspects of science, technology and industry for tropical
and subtropical greenhouses.
The
symposium will be held at the convention center of the National Museum of
Natural Science, Taichung, Taiwan. The museum, founded in
1986, is now one of the major landmarks of the
central part of Taiwan. The city locates 1.5 to 2 hours away from the CKS International Airport by car. Transportation will be
guided for the international guests at the Airport.
The
official language of the symposium is English.
The
temperature is between 25 and 30 degree C in April. Please check the
Symposium's Web Site for the "7 days' forecast" for more detail.
The visa-free service for 14 days short visit to Taiwan is
applicable to Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Germany,
Greece, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United
Kingdom, the United States, Sweden, Spain, and Portugal. For nationals of other
countries, visitor visas for Taiwan can be obtained from the Republic of
China's diplomatic and consular offices abroad, or the overseas representative
offices.
The Organizing Committee welcomes
submissions of contributed papers on one or more of the main topics of the symposium, or topics related to the overall theme. Scientific sessions are listed below. Both oral and poster sections will
be held and abstracts should be submitted before October 30, 2000. Abstracts will be published in the abstract book only if the
registration is completed.
Abstracts should be e-mailed to weifang@ccms.ntu.edu.tw or mailed on a diskette in Microsoft Word format, together with 2 printed copies, to reach the Secretariat before October 30, 2000. Please indicate your preference for an oral or poster presentation. However, final decisions on the presentation format will be taken by the committee and authors notified accordingly.
Abstracts
should be written in English, typed single space in 10 point Times New Roman
font, in an area 15 x 23 cm (6x9 inches), centered on a single A4 pages. The
Title should be typed in CAPITAL LETTERS; leave a blank line then type the
authors' names in one line. Underline the name of the presenting author only.
Type the presenting author's address in separate line(s) followed by e-mail
address and/or FAX number in one line; then leave two lines blank before
beginning the text of the abstract. Use the following as an example:
